The North Shore Subsection is underwriting this Career Workshop for Boston Section unemployed members and ones that are underemployed or are threatened by down-sizing, consolidations or shutdowns. Some members are facing job searches for the first time in many a year and are in need of learning the new ways of conducting a job search. The intent of the workshop is to help you re-hone your skills and learn the latest ways and avenues needed to locate a new opportunity in the current environment. The Subsection feels strongly in the need to assist our unemployed members and will be providing sponsorship for any member that is unemployed with proof of employment status.

Overview

Every engineer needs strong career planning strategies in order to survive and get ahead in corporate America. This workshop is packed with real-world tips supported by actual work experiences and examples. Step by step guidance in handling a multitude of career issues is presented and includes a course workbook to develop a resume, cover letter, a 30 second “commercial” and much more.

The presenter draws upon more than three decades of experience to cover every aspect of an engineer’s career, helping you build the skills you need to find the job you want.

Speaker’s Bio

John Hoschette PhotoJohn Hoschette, IEEE Senior Member, Technical Director- Lockheed Martin, Author and Founder of Career Development Coaches.

John has been an Engineering Manager for over 20 years; an Instructor with the Gordon Institute of Tufts University for over 10 years. He has lectured at the University of Arizona, Brown University, Massachusetts-Amherst, Minnesota, Santa Clara, Stanford University and University of California-Berkeley. John is also an active senior member of IEEE, receiving a Citation of honor award. John has also worked with other world–class organizations such as Northrop Grumman, Honeywell, Alliant Tech, and Loral. Mr. Hoschette has helped more than 5,000 engineers enhance and advance their careers.

The workshop is based on his books titled “Career Advancement and Survival for Engineers” and “The Engineers Career Guide” published by John Wiley.
